[webproducers] Re: Project Pricing...

hmm...

no backend work but a lot of front-end work.

well, you need to factor in the hourly cost of a:

* designer
* information architect
* producer/project manager
* HTML/JavaScript/Product Artist
* account person (if not the PM)

in there you also need to agree on multiple phases of creative delivery
- initial, revisions, final, etc.

and let's not forget about any related documentation such as style
guides should the client want to keep creative updates in-house.

you need to factor in any extra creative deliverables such as custom
Flash, complex DHTML and/or the cost of licensing of any third party
stock imagery, fonts, etc.

hourly rates for each of the above positions varies wildly - from
$40-150 depending on their skills and experience.

you also need to factor in the size of the site as well as this impacts
on the production end of the deliverable.

in terms of justifying - the formular is simple:

cost = rate * hrs

your rate is defined based on the expertise and skills you or your team
brings to the table.

other variables may include the timing of the project - rush jobs
should always be charged a premium.

finally, always pad your hourly estimates with slack. doing so buys
yourself insurance in case one or more tasks of the project take longer
than expected due to a client issue or an issue on your end.

hope the above proves helpful.
