[webproducers] Project Manager

I'm hoping someone can help me with my inquiry. I had project management
experience in the past and diverted back to programming to gain more technical
knowledge. I currently work for a company where
unfortunately, promoting from within is not practiced. I currently perform
tasks which project managers would normally do, in a sense I'm a PM in training.
Since my job title is not an associate PM or PM and it has been a few years
since I actually had that title and performed PM tasks, I think it may be
difficult to get back into this position, if not with this
company but with another as my actual PM experience is only about 3 years.
How can I get back into this position when my current employer doesn't promote
from within and most employers are looking from someone with 5 or more
experience?
