Matt,
Start with the architecture of the site. Work with the team to create
a site map and wire frames of pages including base functionality.
This will help you and the team visually lay out what needs to be
done. The designer and coder can help you determine what order to
build the site. Once you guys determine the order, build a detailed
schedule outlining the tasks each member needs to complete. Try to
arrange handoffs from design to coincide with completions by
development, in my world this doesn't always work but try not to over
load either person as much as possible.
In the schedule/ plan have checkpoint reviews of the experience and
development with the teams. As the designer is working have a brief
review with development, this way design doesn't go to far down an
impossible path. The reverse should occur, the designer should get a
chance to review the build to make sure development didn't take
liberties.
A solid and agreed upon schedule/plan is key. Everyone will
understand and agree to their responsibilities.
Good luck,
Eric
