Job Opening: Sign Language Teacher/Facilitator

Sue is a deaf woman with cerebral palsy. She has started her own business teaching an introduction to sign language class, primarily to children. Sue is working to develop more opportunities to teach, so right now the classes are sporadic but generally run once a week for 6-8 weeks and occur in the afternoons or evening. A curriculum and classroom materials have been developed and a computer is available to be used for power point presentations as a teaching aid. Sue is looking for a flexible class facilitator who can interact successfully with the hearing community to act as her teaching assistant. The number of hours and schedule will vary depending on the development of additional teaching opportunities. This is an opportunity to use your signing skills and flexible schedule to help Sue realize her dream of teaching sign to children.

Pay rate: $9.93/hr Please contact Emma Czarapata at Options in Community Living at eczarapata@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or call 249-1585 and ask for Emma.

Two Part-time Sign Language Interpreter Positions

2 Part Time Sign Language Interpreters
Requirements:
Must have a state interpreting screening complete/passed.
Minimum of three years experience
Dependable transportation
Flexible and great attitude

The job is at the Navy base in North Chicago. Goodwill Industries of SE Wisconsin contracts with the US Navy through the Ability One federal program. Through this program 75% of our direct labor is severely disabled. Therefore we have a population of around 70 Deaf/HH workers. This job is a WONDERFUL opportunity to increase your skill level since the sign language is so diverse between the different workers. It's a different job everyday - kind of like freelancing within our own little piece of land.

By the way if you're wondering why I'm contacting you in Wisconsin to post for a job in Illinois....the Navy base is about 10 min drive to the border of Wisconsin and about a 25-30 drive from Kenosha. We have a lot of people that work here and live in Wisconsin.
