[vpci] First 9 people to respond get to go on the behind the scenes tour of NASA (Read e-mail first before you respond)

Dear Friends,

Houston, we have a problem! My friend Todd could only take 5 people on a 
"personal" behind the scenes tour of NASA. If there's 10 of us, what he can do 
is take the first 5, then the other 5 can tour Johnson Space Center & then 
switch. So basically, he can do 2 groups of 5, 1 group at a time. Anything over 
10 people, then he suggests that we just go to the Johnson Space Center. They 
have a tram that takes people on tours.

Because there is a limit on how many he can take on the behind the scenes tour, 
I decided that I should limit the group to 10. Anything over this makes matters 
a bit too complicated.

February 24 (Friday)
Leave Victoria at 8:30 am
Have lunch somewhere close to NASA
Be at NASA by 1:00 pm

Tippi –
I’m glad that there’s a lot of interest, however that limits my ability to 
provide the entire group with a “personal” behind-the-scenes tour.  As I 
mentioned earlier, I am limited to bringing 5 guests on-site.  So if your group 
is 12-15 people (or more) I would suggest going to Space Center Houston (the 
official visitors center for the Johnson Space Center).  They have tram tours 
that bring you over to NASA, where you would have an opportunity to take 
photographs.  They also have a lot of great exhibits and space artifacts at 
Space Center Houston that would be good to photograph.  That would also allow 
you to schedule your visit anytime that’s most convenient for your group (and 
not be dependent on my schedule).  Your group might be eligible for a group 
discount on tickets to Space Center Houston.  You could probably get that 
information from their website.
 
If there’s a way to select 5 people from your group who I could bring on-site 
with me, then it’s possible that I could show you around the Mission Control 
Center or one of the astronaut training facilities, but I don’t know how you’d 
determine who would come with me and who would be left behind.  So I don’t know 
of an easy way to accommodate everyone with that many people involved.  If you 
want to try and do that, then we can try and work out a day and time to meet.  
My assumption is that you’d be coming on a weekday, so looking at the rest of 
the month, here’s what I’ve got open:
Wed, 2/22 my afternoon is pretty open.
Fri, 2/24 I could work it out anytime that day
Tues, 2/28 my afternoon is pretty open
Fri, 3/2 anytime after 2pm
 
If you’re looking at weekends, then my schedule would be more open, however 
some 
of the facilities would not be open for me to take you.  I could still take you 
to Mission Control, but the astronaut training facilities would not be open for 
visitors.
 
Think about it and let me know what you think.

I have suggested the Johnson Space Center as a tour venue to our Photography 
Club and so far, we have at least a dozen people that are interested. There 
might be more but they couldn't commit until I set a date. Is there a 
convenient 
day & time for you towards the end of February for us to visit? Once I nail a

NASA employees are allowed to bring up to 5 people “on-site” to the Johnson 
Space Center.  If your group is larger than that, I would recommend that you go 
to the public visitor’s center adjacent to JSC, Space Center Houston.  You can

Space Center Houston has many exhibits and they also have a tram tour that can 
bring you over to JSC to see some of the facilities here.  If your group is 10 
people, another option would be for me to bring half of you on-site to JSC 
while 
the other half check out Space Center Houston, and then have the groups switch.
I’m sure I can make myself available in Jan/Feb.  Just let me know after you 
check with your photography club.

I recently joined our local Photography Club and I thought maybe I could 
suggest 
a group trip to NASA in Houston. Would this be okay? I'm not sure how many 
would 
be interested but is there a limit to how many people I can bring? I'm guessing 
there will be anywhere from 10 - 20 that might be interested (I'm new to the 
club so I'm not sure what to expect). Will you also let me know what's a good 
time & day to go maybe towards the end of January or anytime in February (as 
long as it's after the holidays). Thanks.
