Hey Roger...Let's see some of your pics of the eagles. Dave said you had
some neat ones.
Mark
There is an eagle nest on Kohl road that can be seen from the road. It is
on private property. We have not seen eagles there yet this year, but have
not stayed long enough to really tell if they are there yet. The nest is
pretty far out but you should be able to see them with binoculars or a
spotting scope. The attached photo was taken with a 400mm lens. The nest
is far enough away that you should be able to get out of the car and set up
a tripod without bothering them.
If you are going west on Kohl road, cross the lake bridge and go about a 100
yards or so until the trees on the left open up and you can see a forest of
dead trees. The nest is in a Sycamore tree with orange leaves. The
attached nest photo was taken hand holding a 400mm lens on a Canon 60D.
Roger
I really would like to be included in the next visit to the nest! Please
put me on your list. Is there any area that is good to stake out where the
eagles might be observed? It's a really big park... MGM

The nesting area is across the lake from the park. It's a locked gate
property. Now that we know they're back...we're not supposed to disturb
the nesting area till the egg and hatching process is over. If they feel
threatened...they might move to another area. We only seen one in the nest
area...so it's still early in the game. Hopefully...at our April 14
outing...we will have a family of eagles to view. Meanwhile...with a bit
of luck...they can be spotted over the lake area...hunting and fishing for
dinner.

How do you get to the nest/viewing area? MGM

Looking through some of my pictures...I have some of the chicks around
March...so I'd guess they are gone by sometime in May. Roger says some
of them stay the whole year...but I haven't seen them in the summer.

How long do the eagles usually stay? Mary Gail Mark Oberle writes:
Hey Juan...I was using my Sigma 50-500. I think Cliff was using his
100-400...maybe with a teleconverter. It became overcast shortly
after we got there...so most of my shots were silhouettes with a gray
sky. The two I posted were taken in the first few minutes we were
there. I haven't seen what Cliff came up with. Mark Which lens did you
use Mark and Cliff? Juan Diaz Wow Mark the pics are amazing. I love
both of them, thanks for sharing. Gena Sent from my iPhone On Dec 20,

Here's another...not quite as fuzzy. Mark Hi all...Cliff and I made a
trip to Coleto last Thursday...mostly to see if the eagles returned to
the nest. Caught this one circling the nest...it's a fuzzy pic...but
you get the idea. Hopefully Cliff got something better.
