Don't be sad...just put those 'people/portrait' in the 'open' category.
You, Charles and Ben should put together a 'people/portrait'
workshop...or maybe a series of workshops...you might generate a whole new
interest in the club.

Several people at different times have suggested other/additional categories
based on what they enjoy the most. However, adding more categories entails also
adding a lot more time to the judging & that is mainly why we haven't done it.

Hi Mike,
I am also somewhat new to the club and still learning the laws of the land. At
the last meeting I brought a picture for "Landscape" and Dave told me, "Tippi,
there is no landscape category". I was in such a hurry to get to the meeting
that I just grabbed whatever photos I had already printed and quickly wrote my
name , level & category on them without checking the website first. Just shows
that I'm still learning too.

Hey there guys this is mike, sorry county make it to coleto this past Saturday
but got tied up @ work. So I was a little confused with all these contests and
entries for diff level competions and stuff, I had briefly chatted with Jim
after the meeting and he had explained how since I am new to this I can start
entering my photos for judging in level 1, so my question was when are the next
entries due by and what all the categories are that I can particupate in. If
one of you could explain me a little about how the competions work and stuff I
would Def appreciate it. Thanks

One definition of Architecture is "The art and science of design and erecting
buildings and other physical structures".
So I assume a bridge would be considered Architecture.
I guess now there won't be any question, making the catagory easier to
understand.
But this is new this year, isn't it?

I remember some discussion - I don't really remember why we kept it. Maybe by
changing the definition we thought it'd get more entries? I have seen other
structures - like bridges - entered in architecture. There was an adobe
structure that placed 2nd in Cuero.

I was reading the 2012 contest rules and noticed we have a (BS) category for
"Buildings and Structures".
Is this new this year? Also, is this any different from "Architecture" that we
used to have and dropped because of no interest?
I actually have an idea for a shot that I'm going take for this one. I just
have to get a little kid to be my model first.
