I may have to go back to a domain. Since we moved, the simplest solution was
to create a workgroup for this network. I believe the username and password
is established on the server in the local administrator's group. I will
check this. I don't seem to have this problem with the XP Pro boxes.

Just a guess based on previous OS behaviors, but if you create a local
account on that server with the same username and password that you use on
your Vista machine, you should be automatically authenticated all the time.
Or, dcpromo the server into a domain controller, but I'm going to guess
that's not a feasible solution. :)

I have a windows 2003 Server in a workgroup acting as a file and print
server, printer connected to it via USB and shared for network use. From my
Vista (Basic) machine, I can connect to the shared printer and all is well.
After a few days or so I get an authentication login box and have to
re-establish the connection. How can I configure this connection to stay
authenticated?
