Thanks! When I called about something else, I got incorrect information from a 
customer service rep about disability services (not surprising).

I talked to verizon customer service and the person said that they did not have 
an accessibility (special needs) department and that they did not give an 
exemption for paying for directory assistance calls. The person said to call 
1800-411 to get free information. But she had it wrong. The call would not go 
through. As of now, I use free 411 1800-3733411. Actually it is the word free 
and then 411. At&T has free directory assistance with proof of blindness the 
last time I knew when I was a customer a couple of years ago.

         With Verizon and AT&T, we have free directory assistance. I think we 
submitted signatures from our docs or maybe our rehab counselors and they 
granted us this very integral privilege. Also, there's 800-FREE411, a service 
that as far as I know, works from any phone for FREE!
