I couldn't find the TouchMemo on Maxi-Aids website, but did find it at the
LightHouse for the Blind at this website.

so now wondering has anyone compared these two items since both about the
same price and if one has any advantages over the other? Also, does any one
know how you attach the tags for the Sherlock or TouchMemo to the clothes?
Do they have to be sewed on?

Use the compact, pen-sized Touch Memo to record item details on special tags
that you then attach to the item. When you need to identify the item later
on, hold the Touch Memo reader pen to the tag and it plays back the
description you recorded. It's that simple! It's easy to use: there are only
3 main buttons, plus a slide switch and a volume control wheel. This entire
unit is self-contained (although you can use the included USB cable to
transfer audio information from the internal memory to the computer, if
you'd like.) You can record voice labels for virtually any item - from food
items, medicine bottles and clothing at home - to files and important
documents in the office - to projects and supplies at school. In the
kitchen, label cereal boxes, cans of soup and spice bottles. Identify
leftovers in the fridge or freezer - even record recipes and cooking
instructions. Use it around the house to identify clothing, CD's and DVD's.
The possibilities are almost endless. Includes Touch Memo Pen with Lithium

Subject: [visionrehabtherapist] TouchMemo and More about Sherlock

TouchMemo is another talking labeler carried by Maxi-Aids; it has plastic
tags that are supposed to go through the washer and dryer. I have not tested
this, though I have every reason to believe it is true. We did test Sherlock
tags in the washer and dryer, and we tested Sherlock labels in the freezer
and know that they work. Attach the Sherlock label to a card and then attach
the card to frozen food; this makes the label reusable because it is on a
card and not on the food wrapping. To use Sherlock labels on canned foods,
you must first attach them to our MagneTachers for Sherlock Labels, sold
separately. These magnetic vinyl squares have rubberized steel in them which
blocks interference from the metal of the can. They also allow you to reuse
Sherlock labels when you replace canned foods.

Let me know if you have further questions about Sherlock.

Thanks.
