Roberta and all,
I like the Kurzweil/Open Book method. Also, for unscanned PDF8s, another
way to open them in addition to Adobe, is to use Textpal from Jamal Mazrui,
a wonderful text editor that can open many PDFs as text files. I think that
Textpal normalizes the text into standard-sized lines more than does
Adobe. Textpal also is great for removing Word codes that I can’t get out any
other way – copy and paste material into it and it is plain text. Those on
the list with more technical knowhow may have some corrections or more info
to add on this. But Textpal is a free download from
http://testsite.blind-planet.com/node/17
Also, if you haven’t, visit Jamal’s primary web site, the Empowerment
Zone, _http://www.empowermentzone.com_ (http://www.empowermentzone.com/)
He has a marvelous collection of material there.

Subject: [visionrehabtherapist] Question about saving PDF documents as
text file

Hi all,
Does anyone know how to save PDF files as text so they read correctly
using JAWS? When I save some PDF files as text, they come out fine with
generally most of a text line on the same line in the txt document.
But sometimes, the txt file, when I re-open it later has
Every
Word
On
A
Single
Line.
It’s incredibly difficult to use the document.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
