[visionegg] where to put new version

I found a dir on

1 /home/christoph/VisionEgg
2 /usr/VisionEgg
3 /usr/local/src/visioneg-0.9.3
4 /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/VisionEgg

so where do I have to put new updated .py from CVS in? I suppose in 3
(dir /src or dir build/lib.linux-i686-2.2 ?)

sorry for this beginner quesiton, but maybee there are other newbies
grateful for this info
