[visionegg] Re: visionegg Digest V3 #50

Jon,

I tried that for a while, but I think I noticed that things didn't run
perfectly smoothly all the time. I think I got frame drops once in a
while. However, in true fullscreen mode, I've never noticed any
jerkiness or tearing, and I've never had a frame drop, even when run
overnight. This is on an Athlon 700 MHz with an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, and
mostly running EPhys.

Cheers,

Martin

Andrew,

a handy way to get around this problem with windows machines is that
pygame offers the option of windows with no frame (so no minimise/close
buttons and all that stuff that swallows timing accuracy). By creating a
window with no frame that is the size of the screen you can get the
benefits of fullscreen mode without actually causing the monitor to
change modes. (Its also particularly useful when using cambridge
research systems Bits++ box which doesn't like the mode change.)

all the best
Jon
