[visionegg] Re: Reaction time?

hi Neil

I can't speak to measuring RT with keyboard or mouse, but in case you or anyone is interested in the more precise method of using a buttonbox, we have been using the Cedrus buttonboxes a lot with visionegg, and we (mostly Alex White) have posted some information on our experiences and reliability data here:
http://openwetware.org/wiki/Holcombe:ButtonBox
The page also includes some python code for talking to the button box using python via the serial code module. I think we got the sample code calling it from Damian Mannion. Contributions to the wiki are very welcome.

On an unrelated topic, as a follow-up to my message titled "I have a selective lesion in my mask2d computer circuit", we never got Mask2D to work, until we downgraded VisionEgg from 1.1.1 to 1.1. Then everything immediately worked fine. No idea why.

What's the "best practice" method for getting a reliable
mouse/keyboard reaction time in Vision Egg? I've been looking through
the mailing list archives and have seen some possibilities, but am not
sure if anyone's commented much on their pros/cons. For example, if
one were to use an event callback, would you be limited to the
granularity of the screen refresh rate? What about using something
like pygame.event.wait() versus repeatedly polling? (I don't need to
redraw anything while waiting for input)

Thanks, and my apologies if this has already been answered somewhere.
