[visionegg] Newbie installation problems

Hello,
I am attempting to install visionegg 1.1.1 on a mac running Leopard
10.5.6.
I have followed the instructions on the visionegg website. I
downgraded to Python 2.4.4. I have installed Xcode. When I type
"python setup.py install" from the visionegg-1.1.1 directory, I get
this error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "setup.py", line 61, in ?
from setuptools import setup, Extension
ImportError: No module named setuptools
What have I done wrong?
