[virtualize] VMWare ESX Serial ports

I am at the start of a server consolidation project. I have a few VM
candidates that need a modem attached. The server I have has no
legacy serial ports (USB). What is the standard practice to support
this configuration? I thought about getting a something like a 4pt
Digi card but I have no idea if the ESX server could even see such a
thing.
