Thanks Paul

Apple emailed me all the instructions for deleting and reinstalling itunes but the links are coming up as 'unable to display the webpage' bla bla bla. That's why I was thinking that java should not have been deleted but as I said to Stuart, I'm just clutching at straws. I guess its sit and wait till the phone lines reopen.

In the meantime, Happy new year and thanks to you and all for all the help and advice in 2007, I somehow feel I'll be needing a lot more in 2008. Cheers!

Edel..

Hi Edel,

I am afraid I would be no help to you in regards to the IPod software and Stuart would have more experience on this topic. However, if you feel you deleted your java software you can reinstall it by going to the web site: www.java.com. I don't think that removing java would have had any affect on the IPod software so don't worry about it.

Paul.

Thanks Stuart

Do you know what java is for, I think I may have deleted it by accident and
maybe that is what is causing the problem with itunes. I'm just clutching
at straws now rather than deleting it.

Hi Edel,

I'm by no means an authority on the Itunes software but I do know that yes,
you will lose your music because Itunes, when re-installed will see your
Ipod as a new device and reset the device.

A similar problem to what you describe happened to a friend of mine. There
is apparently a way to tell Itunes not to reset the Ipod, maybe a bit of
googling will find it for you.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance!

Regards, Stuart.

Hi Paul & All

I got a new ipod and have problems registering it with my itunes so apple
have advised me to delete and reinstall itunes. Does that mean I'll loose
all the music I have put on from CDs which amounts to a large chunk. If so,
is there a way I can save it. I cannot back them up on my hard drive
because I don't have enough room.

Edel..
