Hi Flor

I did press the insert Z keystroke and the virtual curser is on. I also checked in the settings centre and the virtual curser is on by default.

Paul, I'll try running the video intercept thing you sent me to see if that helps. I had the latest version of JAWS 12 on there as of Sunday but I see today another version is now available which I will put on next time I use the PC.

It is Windows 7 on there which is quite new to me but I'll see if I can set it to classic view. I much prefer Windows XP to be honest.

Aedan, I really hope it isn't the display chain driver you referred to as that sounds quite nasty. I really don't want to be responsible for wrecking my dad's computer.

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Ulla

Ulla,

When you press insert+6 in Internet Explorer, what does JAWS say? That it's in Internet Explorer only is probably notable. Did you try pressing the tab key while in Internet Explorer. Press Insert+z, to toggle the virtual cursor. perhaps the virtual cursor, somehow or other, in internet Explorer is off by default. It should be on.

Subject: [vip_students] JAWS Problem with Internet Explorer

Hi All

I wonder if anyone can help me? A few months ago I installed JAWS 12 onto my parents PC so I could use the internet when I am visiting them. All was well until this weekend. JAWS has literally stopped working with internet explorer and I just can't understand why. When I load internet explorer JAWS will read the title of the webpage and nothing else.

The arrow keys don't work and it says there are no links. If I try to use any of the keystrokes like insert f6 the headings list won't appear and it says no headings. No buttons or form fields can be found. If I press the alt key I can look at the file, edit view menus etc but I just can't navigate any webpages.

I have tried unloading and reloading JAWS, rebooting the PC, refreshing the webpage and still no luck. Internet explorer 8 is the version on the PC.

All other applications are working perfectly with JAWS. I've never come across this problem before.

If anyone can shed any light or help me out I would be really grateful as this is so frustrating.

Thanks in advance.

Ulla
