Hi Aedan,
Yes, looks as if Wireless will be my only option. First, I intent to check with BT just to see what they have to say, as I have heard very good reports about them.
Regards,
Noreen

Hi Noreen,
Any chance of a Wireless connection via Irish Wireless Broadband or some
equivalent? I have a connection at the moment via Amocom here in the city. I
have 512 kb download speed and 256 kb upload. Skype is fine on it.
I tried to go to Smarttelecom before Christmas but they could not give me
Broadband afte promising me it. By the time we found out that I had given
them my line and changed phone number. I ended up telling them to get lost
and they left me for 10 days without any line connection to anyone at all!
I am now back with Eircom and got back my old number, however while I had no
line I joined the Wireless broadband service Amocom.
Regards
Aedan.

Hi Aedan,
Still learning as you can see and it is great to see you on the list.
Thanks for that extra piece of information
. All I need now is Broad Band, but no definite date from Eircom as to when
it will be available in Charleville.
Kind regards,
Noreen

Hi Noreen,
How are you?
Even though the streaming breaks up you will find the the file in the
hidden
temporary internet files area will be intact. The gaps will not be
recorded.
Lucky for us that Jaws happily reads out the filenames in these hidden
folders!
Aedan.

Hi Stuart,
Thanks for offer of tutorial on CD but from what Aedan says there is no
point in my using Skype until Eircom decide to give us Broad Band. In the
meantime I might look at what Aedan suggests and try and save it.
As regards the pauses, they were not long but still they were running
through the whole tutorial.
I must look into this Broad Band further and check if it might be
available
through another provider. I heard yesterday that in certain cases where
subscribers were told by Eircom that their lines had failed the test for
Broad Band, they were, in spite of this, successful with another
provider.

Hi Noreen and all,

Firstly, thanks to everyone for the very nice comments regarding my skype
tutorial. I'm really happy that people found it useful. If you feel
this
type of format works, then I'm happy to produce audio tutorials on demand
as
and when they are required.

Now Noreen, to your questions.

I think the pauses are happening because of your dial-up connection,
although saying that, the file was compressed so that it could be
streamed
over dial-up, very strange!

Secondly, you can't actually save the file as it streams to your
computer.
If you would like a copy though, I could send it to you on cd maybe. I
wouldn't mail it to you as its over 10 megs, and on dial-up, that's a lot
of
time in line!

I hope this helps.

Stuart.

Hi Stuart or Paul,
Listened to the tutorial last night and it was excellent.
Is there any way to prevent the pauses that occurred with Winamp, or is
this
because I cannot yet get Broad Band? What is S, Shuffle for and should
it
be on or off? Third and last question, can you store the tutorial on
Winamp, and if so how, or is it done automatically?
I understand that Skype is not so good without Broad Band but is it worth
having a go anyway?
By the way, I had to resend this as it was returned to me undelivered. I
think there was something wrong with the address on Web Site for students
list.
Many thanks,
Noreen M.
