Absolutely even before you mention this Frank I had filed it away as I had never seen brilliant advice like that before in relation to Internet Browser. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank Kelly" <frankke@xxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Frank,

This is from Microsoft in relation to a problem that sounds like yours where Internet Explorer flashes on and then closes again.
1.. Close all Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer windows.
2.. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3.. In Control Panel, open Internet Options.
4.. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
5.. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
6.. When Internet Explorer finishes restoring the default settings, click Close, and then clickOK two times. 7.. Close Internet Explorer, and then reopen it. The changes take effect the next time that you open Internet Explorer.
May as well give it a try.

Francis.

Not Pauline Flor but do you know how the Team Viewer works. It is brilliant and I use it all the time with Dolphin re Supernova and with BT when I have problems with Internet, e-mail etc. They just log in, BT use a different one but perhaps Eircom or whoever Frank is with have one too. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Flor Lynch" <florlync@xxxxxx>

Pauline,

How did he find your specific computer? I'm sure there were a few things he'd have had to do for that. Were you able to launch internet Explorer? Frank can't do that at the moment. At any rate, we can't fix it from here because we don't have all of the pertinent info to work with.

How easy it is, though, could depend on whether there is already an NCBI network connection or some other remote connection opened on the computer. Frank, you don't have another browser like Firefox or even an ftp client that you could try instead of internet Explorer?

Frank along the lines Flor is saying then why not see if Collyn Kenny can access your computer remotely through Teamviewer and see what is going on. ----- Original Message -----

Frank,

At this stage, I'd get a professional to look at your computer. That you can't launch internet Explorer is, on its own, a serious fault.

Hi Frank,

If you go into your control panel and go to internet options you can access your add ons there without having to open internet explorer. It's under the Programs tab. There's a button there called manage add ons and you should be able to check then to see what add ons are running and disable if necessary.

Frank, et al.,

The reason MyWebSearch may not be showing is that it may be currently enabled in internet Explorer and therefore is not presently amenable to be removed. Let's see if we can change this if this is the case. next time you launch internet Explorer, as soon as it comes up press alt-f then w to work off-Line. Now, go into Tools, add-ons, alt-t then a; then tab to a list of currently loaded add-ons. You will see a group of radiobuttons, but ignore that for now and tab on to the list.

If you arrow to MyWebSearch in there, then tab to the "disable" button and then press spacebar or enter.

Close Internet Explorer. Now, go into Control panel and see if you can find MyWebSearch in add/remove, and uninstall. (That last step is optional. However, above are the principles of how, in Internet Explorer, you disable an add-on if it is proving to be a nuisance or you no longer need it (if you ever did).

And you successfully uninstalled AVG? We need to be sure.

It could be that your Windows Internet Explorer has become corrupted. If it is Internet Explorer 8, the only way to repair is to uninstall it, which would bring you back to your prior version of IE. It is not an easy problem to fix, apart from someone looking at your computer and perhaps running a different antispyware on it.

Frank,

You will be going around in circles, in my view. If you do want AVG and it is to run properly, you need to get the Avast protect during uninstall problem sorted, as Avast is not yet uninstalled. You will probably need sighted on-site assistance for this. If you would prefer AVAST to run, then uninstall AVG and reinstall Avast. Then we could see if you really have other problems such as those with internet Explorer and spyware.
