Hi All,
As requested by Paul D. Here is a tutorial on creating a new system restore
point.
First, what is a system restore point?
A system restore backs up all of the operating systems important system
files, folders and registry hives. This would be all the necessary portions
of your windows operating system which would be required should the need
arise where you have to do a system restore in order to help get your
computer up and running again. Things like incorrectly installed
applications, viruses, spyware and other issues may at some time prove to
require that in order to get your PC working again you need to perform this
operation.
Note: Your system restore points are only as good and as up-to-date as your
most recent backup. It is a good idea perhaps to create a restore point say
every month as well as this please note that system restore does not backup
any of your own personal materials, this is a separate process.
Creating the System backup:
1. Open the start menu.
2. Arrow down to programs and press the right arrow.
3. Press the down arrow to Accessories and right arrow.
4. Press the down arrow to System Tools and right arrow.
5. Down arrow to system restore and press the enter key.
Note: At this point be patient and wait for the system restore screen to
come up.
6. Now you will be asked if you wish to;
*. Perform a system restore.
*. Create a restore point.
In this case we want to create a restore point and so by pressing keys, "alt
+ letter E" you will activate this intention.
7. Tab to next and press the spacebar.
8. You will now be asked to give your restore point a useful name. I
have a habit of always calling my system restore points "system1".
Note: For jaws users, when you are in the edit box and just before you begin
typing in a name, make sure you hit enter to turn on the forms mode as this
is a screen a bit like those found in Internet Explorer. When you hear jaws
say, "forms mode on" you can begin to type.
9. Tab over to the "create button" and press the spacebar.
10. Now tab to the "ok button or close" and press the spacebar to complete
the creation process and you're done.
