Hi Vincent,

Please note that the settings below are my own and are what I find works for me
with windows vista so give them a try and see if they are of any help.

1. While on the windows vista desktop, press the application key and down
arrow to "Personalise"

In here tab over to "themes" use spacebar to open and change it to windows
classic.

Once done tab to "OK" and press enter then use "Alt + F4" to close entirely.

2. Again while on the desktop, press keys "winkey + letter E" and wait
for the computer window to open up.

In here, do "alt + V" and then press letter L to change the view to list view.

Also while in here go to the "tools menu with alt + T" and down arrow to
options, press enter key here.

The first group of radio buttons in here contain three choices with the first
option being highlighted, "Use Preview pain and filters". You should down arrow
here to "use windows classic", now tab over to "apply" and press the spacebar.

3. While still in Options, press the keys "control + Tab" to jump into
the views page".

In here you will encounter a long list of items which you can arrow down
through and toggle on or off with the spacebar as follows. The heading for this
list is "Files and Folders" and it will be open.

*. Always show icons, never thumbnails -off. (Turn this option to on)

*. Always Show menus - Off, (Turn it on)

* Display file icon on thumbnails-ON

* Display file size information in folder tips-ON

* Display simple folder view in Navigation pane-ON (Turn it off)

* Display the full path in the title bar (Classic folders only)-Off (Turn it on)

Hidden files and folders

Do not show hidden files and folders-ON

Show hidden files and folders-OFF

Hide extensions for known file types-ON

5. While on the desktop, press the application key and go to
"personalise". In here, tab to screen saver and when in there, make sure that
screen saver is set to none.

6. If your computer is using either Norton anti virus or Macafee anti
virus, get rid of them as they are utter junk and cause major problems. I
recommend Avast anti virus, free for home users.

Paul.
