Windows XP and Supernova? Well done!
It's so funny because we sent our emails about View etc at exactly the same
time!
All the best,
Sharon

PS supernova is appalling and reading any information in the file properties
so for example when I open the Word document and go to properties supernova
read nothing!

Hi Eleanor,
I would probably do this the way that Tony and Cearbhall explained, but you
are right…. There is a way in File Explorer….
Open File explorer and go to the list of files you want to know about.
Make sure that no file is selected (Control + Spacebar if needed).
Make sure you are in Details view: Apps key, Press Enter on View, Arrow down
to Details, Press Enter.
Apps key again, arrow down to Sort By and press Enter.
Arrow down to More and press Enter.
Arrow down to Date Created and press Spacebar to check the box.
Press Enter and then your files will be sorted on Date created (earliest at
the top).
Arrow down through the files and arrow to the right to read the date created
(or I think it will read the details with Insert + Page Up).
I did this on Windows 10 but it should work on Windows 7 and 8 too.
Have fun!
Sharon

this does not show up a date for me. it gets me every other information
under the Sun but the date. I am sure there is a way in file explorer to go
to view and see the day the file was created.

Eleanor,
The procedure I use is:
Arrow to the file you want to check
Press alt + Enter to open the properties of the file;
Tab Make sure you are on the General tab. If not, then arrow left and right
until you land on the General tab;
Use the mouse pad to arrow around the properties in browse mode.
The date created is on the General tab screen.
You may find that the screen reader speaks the dialog as soon as you open
the properties. In that case, I find that I can listen and eventually the
date created is called out.
All the best,
Cearbhall
