Okay Flor point taken!

I'm not disparaging Eircom - many of us use their service, whether
broadband or dial-up, because it is more convenient because of, say, the
  dependent telephone lines situation.

  Well done Flor!

I was advised the other day by a good tech person friend who I'm sure
didn't know of that situation whilst I was having a problem with another
  ISP to switch to Eircom!

  Anyway I didn't!

Love mobile broadband on the move!

Eircom have been hacked into several times, most notably during last
summer. At that time they felt obliged to write to (email) all their
customers, apologising for the inconveniences, etc., and saying that
things were now on the mend. Eircom know that many of their users'
accounts have been hacked. (And their explanation for that has
  commonly
been that users 'gave away' their passwords.) So, do be careful with
passwords! They are a nuisance some of the time, especially when you
forget them - easy to do! - but they are unfortunately necessary to
  gain
access to many of the good things on the internet.
