Hi Colette,
Thanks for response to my query, and I agree, that good key board skills
are always the best solution. Some people don't have the patience and
want to fast track through with little or no effort!! I have heard
others say that Drag & Naturally Speaking isn't always accurate,
particularly if the user has a cold. Noreen

Hi Noreen
Guide have released a new Guide Handsfree which has voice recognition
and
works with Dragon Naturally Speaking. I have tried the demo version and

first impressions are that it is fairly straightforward to use. The
menus
are the same as the standard Guide menus which is good for a beginner.
One
of the biggest problems I find is for the computer to recognise my voice

accurately (the Irish accent, I presume!!). Also, I find that sometimes

Guide reads back something that sounds right, but it isn't. For me
thats
not such a problem cause I can read it visually and correct it, but it
will
be more difficult for someone without vision to recognise the error if
relying on speech alone. I think it will always be an advantage for a
person to have keyboard skills where possible.
In addition, you will probably need a reasonably high spec computer,
although the specs given on the website are not that high. Information
on Guide and Guide Handsfree on www.softwareexpress.co.uk Colette
