Financial Considerations Relating to Marcellus Development in Pennsylvania:   Penn State Cooperative Extension will be holding this workshop on Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Penn State DuBois Campus Hiller Auditorium.  The meeting will start at 7:00 PM and end at approximately 9:30 PM.  Speakers include Jon Laughner, Penn State Extension Educator from the Marcellus Educ ation Team, Timothy R. Marshall, CPA with Urish Popeck & Co., LLC, Paul Nicholas with Clermont Wealth Strategies, and Dwight Koerber, Esq.  Discussion will include Marcellus Economics, Tax Planning Strategies, Handling an Economic Windfall, and Estate Planning Options.  A question and answer period will follow the discussion.  Please contact the Clearfield County Extension Office to register to attend at (814) 765-7878.

Oct. 15 – The Fourth Annual Spirit of DuBois Lantern Walk will be hosted by the DuBois Area Historical Society. The Spirit of DuBois Lantern Walk will begin at 6 p.m. and leave every 20 minutes from the United Way Office on Jared St. On the walk, which will foc us on the old DuBois Brewery site “Spirits” of DuBois’ history will speak to the tours. The walk topics are suitable for all ages. Admission for the tour is $5 for adults and $3 for students, with children sixth grade and younger free if accompanied by an adult.

The Workforce/Training Subcommittee of the Greater DuBois Chamber has made arrangements for a Business Over Breakfast presentation focusing on the newest Marcellus Shale Needs Assessment.  The assessment was completed by Tracy Brundage and Jim Ladlee, representing the Marcellus Shale Education and Training Center (MSETC).  Tracy and Jim have agreed to p resent the latest information at a Business Over Breakfast scheduled for Thursday, October 27th   at the Lakeview Lodge, Treasure Lake.  Watch for further information.

NEW CHILDCARE FACILITY NOW OPEN!  Kids Clubhouse at Tri County Church now has hours of operation from 6am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. They are accepting children ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age on a full or part-time enrollment basis. They also offer Before and After school care with a bus stop for Oklahoma and Penfield Schools and the DuBois Middle School. We have drop-off care on a first come first serve basis when space is available.  The facility is licensed through Pennsylvania Commonwealth. They are partnering with CCIS to offer childcare on a income based scale to t he families who are in need, and also provide breakfast, lunch and a snack for children if they are here during our scheduled meal times.  Our childcare center is focused on partnering with the parents to create an extension of the home.
