I love Kurzweil! I used to use it in conjunction with a rattly od scanner when reading letters but found out by complete accident that you can scan PDF's in to plaintext among other things!
Incidentally, since this subject thread is entitled Information, I just thought I'd share with you all that I used the new tesco.ie website the other day and was...on the whole...impressed. There is no longer an access site but since you navigate the products and your basket by different headings now it's simple enough...the only issue occured when I went to book my delivery slot which works in a series of unlabelled radio buttons instead of the customary link for the preferred day/time of delivery. That was a bit trial and error but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Yes nicky, Its true, jaws will not read what is an image, and not text, But I am amazed that kurzweil, can read the image so this is as far as I am concerned a breakthrough, , hope It will help you in your work as well, Cheers paul -----Original Message----- From: vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of NicholasKealy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: 03 February 2010 11:55 To: vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [vicsireland] Re: information Paul, the little I know about this I will tell you. I would suspect that the PDF was an image. Therefore jaws can not read it. I am possibly having to purchase the same software for my work also to deal with this problem. Its all to do with optacle character recognition or OCR. Now, others will be able to explain to you in more detail about this but just thought I would chime in here and say you are not alone. Now, that's my useless bit of information for this morning. Cheers, Nicky.
