Have downloaded the update but sadly problem still there.  Thanks for the
tip.

Eamon, I know that Siri is only available on the 4 s.  Don't know whether
you should download the update or not, others with greater understanding of
the subject will no doubt have an answer.

IOS 5.1 came out on Wednesday Paul.  You might want to either

1. tap settings on the phone
2. tap general then software update..

This might do the trick if you're not up to date.
