Hi Derbhile, Thanks for the update. Keep up the good work. Joan From: vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:vicsireland-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Derbhile Dromey Sent: 10 November 2010 07:20 To: vicsireland@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [vicsireland] The Low Vision Working Group - We haven't gone away, you know! Hi there Just thought I'd keep you up to date with the activities of the Low Vision Group. Our main activity centres on discussion for the moment, of such topics as the Windows 7 magnifier package and whether people have considered changing to an iPhone. Joan Kearns spoke about her experiences finding a mobile phone with good colour contrast. As yet, people haven't tapped into Windows 7. You do need fairly good sight to avail of it, but it's a good stop gap while we wait for AI Squared to get their act together and bring out the next version of ZoomText. I have decided that to be eligible for the group, people need to be members of VICS, so they can be part of VICS as a whole. So I've been in touch with members of the Macular Impairment Support group (MIST) and will be encouraging them to join. None of them know about VICS, but I'm hoping that our chats will persuade them to join, as many of them are older and are unaware of the power of computers to restore them, in a sense, to the activities they were able to enjoy when they were sighted. I'll also be getting in touch with the REtinitis Pigmentosa group. I've also been coopted onto the VICS committee, ensuring that the Low Vision Working Group is very much part of the VICS family! That's it for now. Best wishes, Derbhile _____ I am using the Free version of SPAMfighter <http://www.spamfighter.com/len> . SPAMfighter has removed 215 of my spam emails to date.
