It's good to have that point clarified.
Both my wife and myself have some sight, so we wouldn't normally get
assistance, though whether we'd manage on the spot is quite another
question.

Yes, you can not check in at the airport are closed so doing it yourself is
the only way unless you have someone do it for you but then there is the
booking of special assistance and stuff like that to contend with.
