I haven't had problems with key echo but I am using Jaws 9 and Windows
Vista.
You could contact Freedom Scientific about the matter but I think
it will
most likely require a Jaws upgrade to fix.

I also have a Vostro laptop and know there are issues in the way

Jaws, and more specifically Eloquence handles audio.

Just to clarify my version of Jaws!
I have a 40 minute trial version of 9 for now but I am using the full
version of Jaws 8.
I have a very high spec laptop.
It is a Vostro using Windows XP Pro.
It has 3 gig of ram!
I could send you the complete spec
off list should you wish to pursue this further.
Someone has thrown out the possibility that it might have
something to do
with the video card!
I don't think now that it is a jaws config situation!
I have however changed the Jaws key echo to echo only words, and
not as I
really prefer letters only!

Basically jaws does not always key echo when I am not even in a
programme!

global adjustment and JAWS will say "modify default" radio button

tab once and it will say "rate" and arrow up or down to increase

I am using XP Pro with jaws 8.
Now, Jaws is not always echoing the letters I write although I

to speak, letters & words!
I did an uninstall & a jaws update but that didn't sort out the
problem!
I have Mcafee security running but I have disabled the automatic
scan
option!
I have Office 2007 installed also but I don't think that that is
the
problem
as I have the same nuisance without not going in to that!
Could anyone who has possibly or similar please advise?
