Hey Stuart,
I just noticed something when I went to put this in my calendar... the 7th
isn't a Thursday :)
I assume it's either on Thursday 6th or Friday 7th?
Cheers,
Dave

That is likely the case.

Hi Flor,
Sending as plain text unfortunately makes no difference. We have tried that
solution already. The problem is with Freelists.

It's a problem between Outlook and Freelists. Whatever way Freelists is
parsing the message bodies, they ends up being blank when received by
Microsoft Outlook. (Perhaps the html is being changed into RTF characters,
which Outlook cannot read?)
An immediate solution, therefore, if there is one, is to ensure that such
messages are sent in plain-text-only format. There are others, which it
should not be beyond the wit of NCBI techs to engage with.

Hi Tim and Dave.
Thanks for your responses. Tim, I think you may be right about Outlook.
Dave, as it happens I don't use this particular address on my iPhone.

Hi Paul,
I believe its only blank if you read the mail using Outlook.
I've pasted in the text below:
"
Hi everyone,
Over the last few years, we at NCBI have seen the real value of peer support.
While many of us like to learn in structured environments, or we like to have
detailed material available to us, with step-by-step instructions, much of
the feedback we've received has told us that nothing quite beats the informal
sharing of knowledge, where everyone in a group learns from the experiences
of everyone else.
The Fighting Blindness Exchange group, under the expert guidance of Cearbhall
O'Meadhra and Albert Brown are already doing a magnificent job in this space,
and what I'm about to announce is hopefully going to add a new and exciting
dimension to this already valuable resource.
NCBI already supports vibrant computer clubs, most notably in Dublin,
Kildare, Galway and Dundalk. I've had the pleasure of being present at all
these club gatherings and they are certainly well worth attending. Now
however, we'd like to open this concept up to people and take away any
geographic barriers.
To that effect we are launching NCBI's virtual computer support club. A
virtual computer support club is just like meeting in a room and talking, but
you'll be doing it from the comfort of your own computer, or mobile device,
in the comfort of your own home.
This is very new territory for us, and we'll all be learning together, but I
hope you'll be happy to learn with us and share your knowledge!
I'll post more information next week, with instructions on how the virtual
room will work, and how you can install the software necessary for you to
participate. Our first meeting will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday April 7th, and
we're really looking forward to it already.
I'll give more info on the topics for our first meeting nearer to the time,
but, needless to say, if anyone has any ideas at this point I'd love to hear
from you.
For now, please save the date, and as I say, I'll be in touch again very
shortly.
Happy St. Patrick's day everyone!
Regards,
Stuart
