Dear all,

This list has been recommended to me by Denis Daly from the NCBI in Dublin.

As a new member of this list, I would like to take this opportunity to
introduce myself to you.

My name is Melanie. I am 29 years old. And I have been blind from birth--well, I am not totally blind; I can still see light and dark and outlines.

I am from Germany, but have moved to Ireland almost two years ago. I live in
Killiney in County Dublin.

In Germany, I have qualified as a Multilingual Secretary in English, French and Spanish, but would only feel confident in using German and English in my work today. Since I came to Ireland almost two years ago, I have been trying to get a
paid job. I guess it is difficult for anyone to find work these days, but
for people with a visual impairment or any other disability it seems to be
even more difficult. However, I have worked as an Administration Intern for
a charity in Dublin for 9 months and have volunteered with Aware Ireland on
their email support service.

I hope to meet new people on this list. I also hope to find some help with
computer-related queries and, hopefully, I will be able to be of some help
to people as well.

If you have any further questions, or if you would like to contact me,
please feel free to do so using the contact details below.

Best wishes

Melanie
