Good morning,

I urgently need someones experience of using power vault tape servers.

I know there are 12 of them here and I know most of them have four cleaning
tapes however I'm getting errors via Symantec backup exec to say that about for
of them need one replacement backup tape each. I've the server IP's however
the server administration page is causing me some problems. On the servers,
there is a small screen with four arrows and an enter button. If I'm using the
manual feed I know the sequence of buttons to archive and process the tape
However, the web interface for this server shows a picture of this panel along
with graphics that can be pressed for each button.

Firstly, the graphics are not labled and most importantly, the information
displayed on the screen is displayed in a graphic. This means I cant read it.

Doing backups etc is complicated because there are so many servers each taking
a minimum of twelve tapes, that all have printed barcode lables, it's possible
to use a bar code reader to read each one to make sure they go in and come out
in sequence, mainly for storage reasons however it's getting on my nerves
constantly battling against the accessibility of this type of set up.

How do other admins do this kind of stuff?
There has to be a way around it.

I'm having other problems as well such as the java based interface for dell
open manage, the strange interface for office scan that jaws won't read and the
stupid microsoft Windows Server Update Service that has some kind of clickable
drop down boxes that, yes, you've guessed, won't work with jaws either!

I'm very frustrated!
