I have Danes, they can reach everything. Go to radio shack. They have a
alarm that is motion activated. It makes a lot of noise for a minute or so
when the beam is crossed. Set it up so that the beam runs lengthwise along the
counter edge.. when it goes off you know that surfing is happening BEFORE
it happens. If the alarm doesn't deterr, make a huge fuss scolding those
bad counters that set the thing off(make sure your scolding is directed at
the bad countertop that was trying to get your poor pup in trouble) until the
alarm turns itself off and then call your dog to you and redirect his
attention to some other task. Also keeping the counters as clean as possible
will help.
