Samsung is already rolling out Android 7 to the S7's.

You'll get two versions of Android on your flagship phones from Samsung,
which is the same thing Google commits to on their phones, so it's a bit
misleading to say you get upgrades on a Google phone for a longer period
of time then you do on a Samsung phone.
It's true you'll get Android updates earlier on a Google phone, since
Samsung needs to get the code from Google, merge in the support for
their own hardware and device drivers, test that and then release it
into the wild, but for me, I'm willing to wait that six months in order
to take advantage of Samsung's hardware and additional features.

Yes, any Nexus or Pixel phone.
They run 'vanilla' android and get updates as soon as they are released.
These updates don't go on for ever, but you'd certainly get updates over
a longer period with these phones than you do with the non 'vanilla' units.
Case in point: I believe that my Nexus 6 just got it's last major
update to 7.1.1

Hi, Folks. My Galaxy S7 is running Android 6.0 or something close
to that. Is it possible or even desirable to upgrade to the most
current Android OS? Does Samsung ever do this? Or, if I upgrade
my self, how would I do this? Or, put another way, if I upgrade,
will it cause problems with my phone? Thanks in advance.--Matthew
