My experience has been that date can be set irrespective of braille mode used,
but that time requires computer braille mode. Will check it out, as perhaps
this is no longer necessary.

Interesting Amy you have found VarioUltra to require computer braille when
setting date and time.
I often set time and date for BAUM UK customers before units are
shipped. I have never needed to use computer braille to successfully do
this.
If I go to Settings > Date and Time. The values are shown in literary
braille. I.e. numbers sign dots 3456 followed by the first ten letters
of the alphabet are used. I route the cursor immediately after each
digit I wish to change, use backspace to delete, then write the new
digits in the upper part of the braille cells. If computer braille were
a requirement for this field, then I would expect numbers to appear in
the lower part of the braille cell, as they do elsewhere such as for
file and folder names.
I can only conclude that for date and time, VarioUltra must expect
whatever braille code is shown?
Hopefully colleagues from Germany can offer some clarification?

are reset. This is typical behaviour for VU.
I have found that the most reliable way to enter a new date and time, is to
edit each value individually. That is, place the cursor on the punctuation
Character, usually a slash or colon following the value, then delete the
digits that you wish to change. Write with the same braille code in which
the date and time were originally displayed. You will need to pan forward on
VU20 to edit the entire time including am and pm.

time is academic at this point, but don't see why it happened. Thanks!
