Hello everyone,
I have some questions for the list. First, some background information.
As some of you may recall, I have made mention on this list of our intent to
produce a hard copy braille version of the VarioUltra command summary. The idea
is to include this with every new VarioUltra sold in future, and make it
available to existing customers who might benefit from it. If you’re unfamiliar
with the command summary I’m referring to, it can be found in section 14.3 of
the VarioUltra user guide. If you’re interested, you can check it out at
http://www.baumusa.com/varioultra-user-guide-v133.html#_VarioUltra_Commands. ;
Recently, someone asked me if we would also be producing hard copy braille
lists of commands for use with other products, such as JAWS or iOS. My response
was no, we would only be producing the list of commands for using VarioUltra as
a braille notetaker, and those braille display commands necessary to switch
between USB and Bluetooth channels. Given the high cost associated with braille
production, this is likely as far as we’ll go with inclusion of additional hard
copy braille documents at no charge to customers.
Questions:
1. How useful would a hard copy braille version of the VarioUltra braille
notetaker commands be to you?
2. Comparing VarioUltra commands to those used with JAWS or iOS, Is a list of
VarioUltra commands more or less useful than those for screen reading software?
3. It is our intent to include the VarioUltra command summary at no cost for
customers. If other command summaries were available in braille for purchase –
let’s say $20 for the sake of discussion – would you buy them?
I am sensitive to list traffic. If you prefer to respond directly to me instead
of the list, feel free to do so by sending a message to dbradburn@xxxxxxxxxxx.
Thanks,
David Bradburn
