This is very helpful, David. I have one more question though and it may be a
silly one. When you refer to the command key are you referring gto b9?
Will this come and see Quinn's work in the manual? When I'm on the onboard
manual, there were times I like to look yes give me a second for things. Will
this find sequence work in there?

In the Word processor, to perform a Find, press the Command key with
braille dots 1 4 5 6 and 8. Or in BAUM terminology: B9B1B4B5B6B8.
VarioUltra will display "eb f find" followed by a cursor. You can type
or paste the text you wish to find. If you want to find whole words
only, search backwards or replace then arrow down for those options.
Press The command key on it's own to perform the search. If you then
wish to Find further instances, press Command with braille dots 2 5 and 8.
The Find functions are also available from the Edit menu. Press the S3
menu button to the right of Space, then arrow down to Edit, and left,
then down.

Do not enter the character but use the copy / paste function.
Please go to the first appearance of the escape sequenzce,
highlight this character with command B1B4B9 and then press c+B8B9
to copy it into the clipboard.
Then open the find command use v+B8B9 to paste the character into the
“find what” edit box. And confirm the search.
I hope this will bring you to the real existing escape sequence
positions.
Some further explanation: The unicode to braille table (u2b file) is
responsible which braille pattern is presented for the unicode value
of a code page or simple character or
The braille to unicode table (b2u file) is responsible to enter an
assigned unicode value when you enter a braille pattern
For logical reasons the b2u file only can have 255 unicode values each
for one 8 dot braille pattern.
The u2b file has much more entries and different unicode values can be
shown with the same braille pattern.

Hi all,
I recently upgraded my VarioUltra 20 with the 1.4 beta version.
The text file which is loaded into the word processor is a
“typescript” generated by the linux “script” command.
I’d like to extract the information I need from this file in order to
write an internal report.
The first thing I did is to remove from the file, all the information
I am 100% sure not to need: progress reports of commands, other
intermediate useless state reports, bad commands and their results, …
From what now remains in the file, I need to be sure there are none of
those “escape sequences” which are used by linux to pretty print the
output on the screen.
I thought I could “find” the escape character. I opened the “find”
dialog box by pressing ?+B8+B9. In the “find” edit box, I pressed
B1+B2+B3+B5+B6+B7+B8. This is how the escape character is encoded in
the German Computer Braille table I’m using for input and output. At
least, it is the way it is shown on the display each time I read one.
The “Match case” checkbox is unchecked. The “Whole words only”
checkbox is unchecked. The “Search backwards” checkbox is unchecked
and I’m at the beginning of the document. The “Replace” checkbox is
unchecked. When I press the “OK” button, I always receive a “Not
found” hint message although while reading by hand, I can still find
escape characters.
Now if I place the cursor somewhere in the text, voluntarily type
B1+B2+B3+B5+B6+B7+B8, go back to the beginning of the document and
enter the “find” tool, the character I typed is found. But, when I hit
“Find next”, a true escape character which was a few letters after the
one I typed is not found.
So, in the “EUROPA” braille tables, what is the difference between the
real “escape character” which is printed on the display as
B1+B2+B3+B5+B6+B7+B8 and the same combination I type on the VU braille
keyboard?
How should I use the “find” tool if I want to look for control
characters please?
