[va-richmond-general] white-winged scoters - wetlands

Hello all,
I went back today to the wetlands around 3:30 with scope and camera to
attempt to photograph the scoters. Both birds were still present, but closer
and no less difficult to observe. They were close in to the willow oaks golf
course river bank. I had to stand as close to the waters edge as possible to
see them. However I was able to determine that both birds are immature
birds; male and female. White secondaries seen on both birds. Male very dark
overall, slight paler patch patch behind eye, and bill tip starting to
change color. Female grey brown with very contrasty white patches in front
and behind eye, giving a capped appearance.
