As many birders know Brown Headed Cowbirds lay their eggs in the nests of other birds and often the cowbird is the young bird that survives to the fledgling stage and beyond. On the trip to Cumberland Marsh on the Pamunky River in early June We saw a female Pine Warbler feeding a Cowbird much larger than she was. I saw a Song Sparrow feeding a young Cowbird in my yard in Western Henrico a few weeks ago. Put what species you have seen Cowbirds use this year on the listserve This will be an interesting topic and useful citizen science to researchers. You are subscribed to VA-Richmond-General.
