[va-richmond-general] no Hummingbirds here either

Yes- I noticed a precipitous decline in hummingbird activity in my yard in the
Pocahontas State Park area. I really thought that perhaps I had prepared a bad
batch of sugar water ( I recently had work done on our well due to a cracked
casing and possible bacteria contamination) and caused their decline.

There are lots of Tulip Tree and Holly flowers in the shrub and canopy layers
but I don't know if hummingbird utilize them as a nectar source. I have not
heard any tittering or humming in the yard/woods for several weeks. It seems
very strange.

I also have noticed that I haven't seen my hummingbirds in a couple of
weeks. I live in the City. There have been other years when it seemed that
I didn't see them very much until July.
