Good stuff in the backyard today-happy to see my first Hermit Thrush of the
season as well as a Female Purple Finch. A Yellow-bellied sapsucker has
become a regular visitor as is the little Brown Creeper who picks up the
crumbs of falling suet as fast as the Sapsucker hammers them out. A pair
of Thrashers roost in the pyracantha-where they hatched their springtime
brood. Scores of goldfinches are stacked up on the Thistle paying no
attention to the kee-yer's of the circling Red-shouldered hawk.
