[va-richmond-general] Re: another first junco

No juncos here as yet, but I have seen my first chipmunk bird (i.e.,
white-throated sparrow, or WTSP). You sometimes have to observe it a little
more to distinguish this little brown striped bird from a chipmunk.

Incidentally, I saw huge quantities of birds on power lines at the
intersection of Dimmock Parkway and Temple Avenue near Southpark Mall in
Colonial Heights. Some of the lines were wall-to-wall birds with absolutely
no room for another bird. It was no vacancy. Some seemed to have forked
tails, so I wondered if these were swallows. I got out a small binoculars
and observed a characteristic spotted or speckling pattern. They were
starlings. Too bad. I thought we had another purple-martin-type phenomenon.
I have seen this flock of birds several times while riding or driving
through the area.

Two first juncos, actually, in my yard in King and Queen County. I
also had a white throated sparrow and a field sparrow.
