This morning I ran into Ben and Betsy Saunders at Henricus Park. They saw the
previously reported Orange-crowned Warbler along the entrance road. I did not
see this bird, but an hour later along the Dutch Gap trail, I found another
one! It was in a brushy tangle just past the prothonotary warbler sign. Also
at this spot among the numerous Song and White-throated Sparrows were a couple
of Chipping Sparrows and a thrasher. Then an adult Bald Eagle flew overhead
over the swamp toward the James carrying nesting material, but I lost sight of
it behind the trees. I also had a good count of Wood Ducks, about 130.
