Sandra and I were so excited this morning, early, to finally lay eyes on a
magnificent Great Horned Owl that has been returning to our yard this time
each year for the past 3 years or so.  We have been trying to spot him/her
morn and eve with no luck until this AM when he silently, without a snag,
sailed through the most complicated tangle of trees and limbs to alight in a
large pine in the back yard.  I don't know about the rest of you but I
personally find something most mystical about this bird and its elusive and
passing presence in our lives is a welcome omen of some as yet unknown
portent!  Probably the end of winter! Look out there's magic in the spring
air!
