Despite some challanges like exhaust fumes drifting through the woods and noisy
non-stop trains nearby, we got the best look at a Yellow-breasted Chat
yesterday morning at Lee Park in south Petersburg. We never realized it knew so
many different songs. There were also lots of redstarts, a Tennessee Warbler,
several nesting pairs of Great Crested Flycatchers, Acadian Flycatchers, and
much more.
The total number of birds on the survey list is now at 82, and right now is
when you will see the most birds there. The park is about 20 minutes from the
Pocahantas bridge. Anyone who wants directions and a park map can email me by
replying to this message. Better yet, record your species data and send it to
me if you go. I'll add it to the list of sightings.
