I heard on the news tonight that that very drive that you were driving on
will be all dug up from now to February 6; the road will be closed for sewer
work. I imagine those bulldozers rumbling around will scare off all those
mallards, buffleheads, wood ducks and so forth. You got to see them just in
the nick of time.

Subject: [va-richmond-general] Wood Duck on Riverside Dr. (JRPS)
My husband and I were driving near Rock Falls Dr. at Riverside Dr. about
4:30 this afternoon and I was very surprised to see a pair of wood ducks in
gorgeous plumage between the islands and the road. 30 birders did not find
a single wood duck anywhere on the James River winter count on 1/17 and here
these two were out in the river with the usual ring necks, mallards,
canvasbacks, scaup, buffleheads, etc. What a treat!
