[va-richmond-general] Willey Bridge heron rookery, Riverside Dr. eagles

This afternoon there were birds standing in the nests upriver from the
bridge.  Recently, I have also seen eagles perched on the osprey nest
closest to the bridge as they tend to do right before the ospreys return and
set up housekeeping for the season.  I saw so many turtles today-do any of
you herp and bug fans know if they go back into hibernation after breaking
dormancy?  It does seem risky for them to be out now if they do not go
dormant for the next really cold front.  Nancy Ambler and I spoke to a woman
this afternoon who strongly suspects a new eagle nest on the Riverside Dr.
stretch of the James.  I have had similar suspicions and will keep an eye
out also.  Have a great evening!
