Good Evening,
I just wanted to report a unique (to me anyways) sighting. On my way home
Thursday, coming up 156 in between Disputanta and Prince George, I saw a huge
bird walking across the road. As I got closer I realized it was a wild turkey,
and in tow was a fluffy little chick. Of course, I stopped, and watched them go
into the woods, and right as I was going to take off, I saw 6 more chicks on
the passenger side. They came out into the road, and after scrambling around a
little, finally made it across, and then again, one more little straggler came
along. I was sitting there with my flashers on, hoping that no one else would
come along. One lady did, and was going to go around me, then she must have
seen the chick too, because she stopped. I realized right then I was holding my
breath! I let out a sigh of relief and went along my way.
Good Night and happy birding!
Amanda Sanford
